Advanced SEO Certification Review

I have attended the Advanced SEO Certification in Nov 2010, last month just re-attended it again in Clickevents @ Starhub Building. So this post has been delayed for more than a year now. Hahahaha.If you want to read another Advance SEO Review by Aidah, click on the link.

This year’s Advanced SEO seminar is very different from last year, maybe it’s because the more I re-learn it, the more I understand on SEO. So what is the main difference this year compare to last?

The Difference

1) For myself, it became more clear that SEO is a science and art. The science is that, if you follow these steps, you will receive the same or almost the same result, like in a chemistry lab. The art comes in when most have the same science or formula like you, how can you be different and be the leader? This is where the art comes in. To me, the art of SEO is more to marketing, with the amount of SEO knowledge, how can you beat your competitors online?

2) Social Media is a MUST For Online Business. Yes, it’s true. If you do not have a Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare, Linkedin, etc… It will spell doom for online business. Why is social media a must now. Actually if you are doing it now, you are quite late in marketing, but nevertheless it’s better late than never. The reason is that we are in the information generation, where information sharing is free and easy to find. So in order to verify if the product or service is good is through the past customers who used them. If the past customers are happy with it, they will talk about it to their friends, and even become your die hard fans. Google, Yahoo and Bing understands this factor, so they added social media as part of the formula to ranking the website.

Of course, a website is still a must and is the foundation for online business. That is why it starts first on your on-page SEO then off-page SEO, then social media. Google is now taking serious action for bad websites that do not give good user experience, you will find out the hard way that your SEO ranking will drop to nowhere.

3) Recommendation On Off-Page SEO Linking. This year, we actually have recommendation on how to generate links from authority and related websites. I will not share which are the websites and how it can be done, you can learn it when you signed up for it. To tell you the truth, these are really authority websites that will help your online business website rise in ranking easily. I have tested one of the websites, it was not easy, but worth the affect for doing this. Because I see my website rise in ranking, increase in traffic and of course in sales as well.

Jo Han Mok Review: Traffic Serializer Seminar

“Traffic Serializer” sounded like a silly seminar to attend when I first heard it. Then I found out the speaker of this seminar is none other than Jo Han Mok (Jo Han Mok’s Blog here). If you are new to this industry, Jo Han is THE Guy to go to for internet marketing.

Needless to say, I signed up for the 2-day seminar without hesitation.

In the seminar, Jo Han talked about how traffic can be either paid or free. He went on to explain the different forms of paid and free traffic (I will not give away too much on the different types of traffic).

Next, he educated the class basic SEO techniques and the importance of keywords. An interesting technique he used was via the participants’ businesses as examples/case studies.

He gave them ideas on how they could generate more traffic; create more products based on their existing ones, thus making more money online.

It was certainly an eye-opener or even a revelation (I say!) for all of us.

After which, we went through a content creation crash course and it was amazing that all the participants were able to come up with 300 word articles in 10 minutes. I take my hat off to Jo Han for indirectly letting us know that every one of us have the ability to create content in 10 minutes.

The articles we wrote were not fantastic however it was decent enough for the internet.

Jo Han went on to reveal the different types of paid advertisements which we can advertise our products on. He taught us some of his closely guarded secrets on finding the find right products and the targeted traffic to bring in the money.

The methods he revealed totally blew our minds off. He is truly a genius in his own league.

Before the end of the workshop, he invited us to participate in his upcoming project happening from December to February next year. And of course, I signed up for it!

Jo Han Mok’s traffic serializer seminar is totally worth the investment as he tends to under promise but over deliver. He is the real deal and I salute his brilliance!Similar Posts:

Real Social Marketing Secret was conduct by Simon Leung, facilitated by Fabian Lim on 13th Mar 2010, Singapore Management University, School of Economics. I was there the whole day, where Simon was sharing most of the time, and Fabian added in some thoughts into social media marketing, using Twitter, Facebook, Video Marketing & Social BookMarking.

Social marketing has been the talk of the town (actually the talk of the world), bringing thousands of free traffic to your website or affiliate sites, thus making money daily. So how is it done then? To get thousands of visitors to website and make money out of it?

The key to the whole social media marketing is to building relationship.

Yes, it is that simple. As Simon put it that in order to build a list via your social media sites, you have to be in relationship with them. For example, you may be using Twitter to build a list, sending them to affiliate sites or even to your blogs etc, but they never seem to buy anything.

For this I was also wondering how it can be done? The trick is to talk about it without even selling it on your Twitter. This way you will get your twitter followers to find out more about what you are talking about, thus its like recommending to them. You can also use twitter to start a question, this is a great way to get your followers to engage in the talk, thus making them involve in the discussion. You will be surprise to see that by engaging with your twitter followers, you will also increase in your followers number too.

Video is also a great way to get more traffic and at the same time increase in your followers in your twitter and facebook. What you need to to is to produce very short videos of yourself, sharing on where you are, recommending things that are great after you used it. It can be done using YouTube or even 12Second.tv, as they are free and easy to use. The trick in video marketing is to show funny, or informative, or lifestyle, anything that shows that you are real.

As for Facebook, what you need to do is to set up a fan page of your own, and from there slowly build your fans. You videos and picture play a very important factor in generating traffic. What you need to do is to tag your fans in your pictures and videos, this way you will be able to give curiosity to friends of those whom you tagged, wanting to find out more. And when they come into your fan page, there is a button above the fold, asking you to join the fan page. Of course you will need to provide content, pictures and videos to get them to be your fans.

I will be trying on the the tips for twitter, become more involved in building relationship with my followers. And I was just doing what Simon told us to do, and there was an increase in my followers (20 followed me today). I am looking for more to come. I went to a Joomla website creation course last week by Andrew Boey – called Joomla 101 Intensive Review. I created my first Joomla website within a day all with Andrew’s help. So what did Andrew teach that made this Joomla website creation so easy to follow?

Before I touch on the course, I like to share that setting up a Joomla website is not at all easy, and can be very frustrating. BUT, Joomla websites are very corporate looking that can easily look as though its done by a professional web designer who charges $5K and above.

That most offline businesses are not taking seriously about their website in Singapore and in other parts of the world. The students learn four different models that can help them make money online.

Profit Model no 1: Content Publishing

Content publishing is by far the lowest in investment and the highest amount of time involved if you are writing the content yourself. Why? It’s because this model is all about giving fresh new content. If you thinking of starting a blog, content publishing is very suitable for blogging.

It is easy to set up, SEO friendly, and cheap to maintain. The main disadvantage is the time issue, and you may have to build your website traffic slowly if you are in a competitive niche. This profit model is good for those who do not have a lot of money, but have a lot of time.

Profit Model no 2: Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate Marketing is by far what every Internet Marketers are doing, they will start off with this model first. Because they do not have products to sell online, so they search for profitable and useful products and promote online.

Affiliate marketing is also greatly used in content publishing, depending on the niche you are in. Experts like Ewen Chia started off as an affiliate selling other people’s product. You can use PPC to sell affiliate products online – but do note that PPC involves using your money to make money.

Profit Model no 3: Product Creation

This is the part where you need to have a product to sell online. Fabian do not recommend to beginners on Internet marketing, as he also took 3 years to produce his first online product.

To go through what was learned, find a market or demand, find out the competitors, create product, set up website and Joint Venture with other Internet marketers (you will need to know the marketers and build relationship with them first).

Joint venture is the main issue why beginners are not recommended to go into this model. They do not know anyone (internet marketers) who can also help them market to the mass market. This is where your public relation (PR) has to come in.

Profit Model no 4: Offline Business

This is by far the most numbers of success stories with his students. Almost more than 60% of his students used this model to profit from the Internet. The reason I have stated is that most offline business, do not focus on their business on the Internet – thus leaving a huge piece of pie for Internet marketers to devour easily.

Fabian has a student (Jian Yong) who started off one page website, which made Jian Yong instant profit in 2 weeks time, now Jian Yong has 20 business, that makes him $5,000 to $10,000 a month per business. He is now essentially financially-free at the young age of 21 - just by doing offline business.

The above 4 profit model highly depends on keyword research, and using a keyword research tool will make your work easy and fast for you. Remember that nothing in life is impossible, you are just lazy to do it only. With a properly written execution plan, you will see success soon.

Besides knowing your numbers (traffic volume), you will be able to know where your visitors come from, what keywords they use to find you online, how many web pages they went through, which is the most popular web page, what is the least popular web page and most importantly knowing the percentage of your most traffic whereabouts.

What do I mean by this? Because there are a lot of ways to bring in traffic to your website. You need to know which is the one that will bring you the most targeted traffic, so that you can concentrate on your marketing effort on that particular area.

Having traffic to your website is just like having people coming to browse your offline store. Be it you are selling a physical or non physical product, getting traffic AND customers coming to your website is the most important goal in any business.

The good thing about setting up a website is that it’s very low in capital compared to an offline business, where you have to pay rent in the thousands and you are highly dependent on where your location is to bring in foot traffic.

The second best thing is that you need not pay so much rent online to generate thousands of traffic to your website! Actually the location of where your website is hosted does not give you the traffic, you have to find and then build on creating even more traffic sources.

I went to Eu Gene Ang’s presentation of how to get instant traffic to your website in 15 minutes by using the Google Adwords Pay Per Click system. I have used PPC (Pay Per Click) for my other websites before, so I understand how the PPC system works.

The PPC system uses the search engine (in this case, EuGene uses Google as an example) to make your website appear on top. Let’s take it that you have a golf website and you only want to show your ad when someone types “golf clubs” for the PPC. Within 15 minutes of setting up your PPC, your ad will be shown when someone searches for “golf clubs”.

You can target only to a specific country or area you only want to target, this is known as geo targeting. This is good for those that only sell stuff in their country or states, lowering your cost per click.

There is also something you MUST know. Although PPC is cheaper than using the traditional off line advertising method, it can still burn a hole in your pocket if you do not know how it’s done!
