It was quite interesting to see Google organised this event for free in Singapore. Anyway there was about 400 people in the event today, most of them were working for someone and it was full house (though the event room was huge). There were great speakers (although not professional speakers) talking about Google products, and the main topic today was on Google Analytics.

Each speaker was given about 20 minutes the most to share on their experiences using Google Analytics or other Google free online products that will help online marketers succeed using their products. Here are the what I learned from each and everyone of them in summary (though not all were I listening, some were too boring and not able to grab my attention. So I did not really remember). Here goes:

Beth Liebert, product manager of Google Analytics were sharing the most important thing in Google Analytics. The product is used to analysie the traffic, details of the people who comes to your website. The most important thing is to set up goals for your Google Analytics. With it, you will be able to define the core business of your website.

Barbara Pezzi, Director Webmarketing & Ecommerce was sharing with us on her experience working with Swissotel hotel. With the use of segmentation in Google Analytics, she and her team were able to find out who are the ones buying, who are not buying, high bounce rate, etc… In the end, their team was able to help Swissotel hotel increased their online marketing and more than 20% increase in sales.

Stephanie Hsu, a Google Analytics Specialist with Google was sharing with us on how to use Google Analytics that will help us (Internet marketers) find out how flexible, powerful and intelligent Google Analytics can be.

Adrian Tan, Director of ClickTrue (online Marketing Services company in Singapore), was sharing how SEM consultants convinced the HiPPOs (High Paying People’s Opinion, that means boss) that using SEM is essential to business online or offline success.

Vinoaj Vijeyakumaar, Customer Solutions Engineer of Google Southeast Asia was sharing on how to shape the Google Analytics funnel. With the funnel shaped you will be able to visualise how your traffic comes to your website, then become a prospect, then to a sale.

There are many others, of which I would recommend listening to Barbara Pezzi, Vinoaj Vijeyakumar, Jon Stona, Rachit Dayal and Madona Michael, which I find is suitable to what I was looking for.

If you did not attend the event today, you have one more chance in Malaysia, K.L on the 11th Mar. Click here to register.

What I find is consistent in the Google Analytics Master Class is to use the Goals to define your business model, then from there onwards go deeper to find out more about your traffic. At the end of the day, I feel that I learn a lot from these experts, and best of all there were drinks, foods and beer to go with when ended. I feel that this event was Google’s way to promote their online product, and thus have more people to use Google search engine.Similar Posts:

Source: And I Quote

Years ago, back when I was in the Naval Diving Unit (NDU), I was a sign on then, meaning a contract solider fighting to defend for my country. 3 reasons why I signed on as a Naval Diver:

1) I dreamed of becoming a commando in the SAF, as I had a uncle who was one when I was way younger. He looked tough and heard of his stories in the jungle trainings. I was impressed. So I dreamed of becoming one, but I was not chosen, but instead another elite force took me in, it was the Naval Divers.

2) The money was good. The money is still good compare to a lot of people working out there for commercial companies. There was a saying from one of my instructors; “Signing on will not make you rich, but it will pay you well”. I agree till now.

3) I had nothing to do after I leave as NSF. I had no idea what I should do after my period with the unit after I serve my NS. So I took up as a full time solider, serving the country, getting fit, doing what I like.

It was only after about 3 years later that I got into a medical checkup and found out that I am not suitable to dive, and was officially “excuse from diving permanently”. Do you know what it means? That I can no longer dive in the SAF anymore, this killed my Naval Diver job.

This pissed me off totally!!!!! B(

Why did this stupid thing happened? Why didn’t the medical checkup when I took before I enter the force tell me that I was not suitable to dive? Why did this happen after I went though all this hardship of being whacked, doing stupid punishment and putting pain to myself? Why??????

Then I had a though, I should have just get the easy way out by giving excuses or get some medical doctor to review me unfit for the fitness the training will go through. I was pissed at myself. I should taken the easy way out back then.

It was only in 2005 that I realised that it was all destiny. And that I will determine my destiny.

Then I began to invest in myself, I do not trust in the iron rice bowl theory when you are in the military (working for the government also). I went to attend seminars, like Tony Robbins, T.Harv Eker, and many others. They are great teachers who teach one same thing always, it’s your mindset.

Yes mindset. They will always start with the mindset first. Its because without setting your mind (decide) to do something that can change your life, even God can’t help you. Do you agree? You have to decide to change then your destiny will change.

I have attended seminars that talk a lot on mindset, the Millionaire Mind Intensive which is a seminar by T.Har Eker. The name of the program already tells you what it’s teaching, to have a millionaire mindset. Thought you may not want to be a millionaire, but this program is to be a winner, and most of the millionaires are winners. So all the more you should learn from a winner like T.Harv Eker.

Harv has been in Singapore, Malaysia, U.K and the latest Australia. I change and I believe you can too. Give the event a try, as its very affordable to attend too. Choose the countries you want to attend in:

Singapore: Millionaire Mind Intensive
Malaysia: Millionaire Mind Intensive

As Christmas is coming soon, I like talk about forgiveness, so you can use it before Christmas to forgive or ask for forgiveness. The title for this post is “Forgiveness is the best revenge”.

A few years ago, while I was working in Success Resources. It was two days before Christmas, Patrick Liew (director of Success Resources) shared to us on regarding forgiveness. Be it that someone offended you or you did something to the other person, during Christmas time its a great time to seek for forgiveness or to forgive. As its a time to give presents to your loved ones, and I think its time to give yourself the best present to yourself, by forgiving.

It was quite hard for me back then, for forgiving someone or to ask for forgiveness. As I am very proud and that I was in the wrong, and I do not want to be in the wrong back then. So this was in my mind over and over again for like 12 hours, thinking, wondering, lack of breathing….

And I took the courage to call someone I hurt a few years ago. And ask for forgiveness, yes she was my girlfriend. My heart was beating real fast when I made the call, but she did not pick it up. Though I did not receive the forgiveness from her, but most of the pressure I had was gone on that second.

I realised that its not whether you get the forgiveness or not, its the decision to ask for one that is of importance. That already sets you apart from being free of yourself. It felt great that day, a lot of weight was gone since then. Trust me, it will feel good.

So why not go do this before Christmas, give yourself this present or to others, this will be the best revenge you can give. Trust me, it’s going to be fun.Similar Posts:

"You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with." - Jim Rohn
This is a quote made by Jim Rohn, motivational speaker and self help guru. To be honest, I don't fully agree with this statement because it negates the fact we have our own consciousness as well. The quote will be more accurate if we revise it to: "You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, including yourself". Regardless, I believe the key underlying intent of Jim's quote is who you are with has an impact on what you eventually become. Who you are with can elevate you as much as it can bring you down.

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
Jim Rohn

This is a quote made by Jim Rohn, motivational speaker and self help guru. To be honest, I don’t fully agree with this statement because it negates the fact we have our own consciousness as well. The quote will be more accurate if we revise it to: “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, including yourself”.

Regardless, I believe the key underlying intent of Jim’s quote is who you are with has an impact on what you eventually become. Who you are with can elevate you as much as it can bring you down.

My experiences with different groups of people

The type of people you interact with influences the (1) consciousness level you operate in and (2) the subject matter you engage in. It brings out a side of you that is further reinforced by their default response tendencies, thus perpetuating the situation. Below are some examples of the different groups of people I’ve interfaced in my life; you will probably find parallel experiences in your life as well from them.

Junior college years

In my junior college (JC) years during 2001-2002, I was immersed with people who were of pretty low consciousnesses. The JC I was in was not the best one around; most of the students enrolled because they were not able to get to the other higher ranking ones. Some of them were quite bitter and disgruntled; conversations commonly swirled in negativity and inferiority comparisons vs other higher ranking colleges or the doom and gloom of life. It did not help that even some of the teachers had a condescending attitude towards the school and the students.

When I was with negative teachers or students, I found their negative thoughts rubbed off me, regardless of how positive I may have been during the encounter. These thoughts remained as residual energy afterward which subsequently affected my thoughts and behaviour. These two years marked one of most negative periods of my life; for the most part I remained unaffected because I was very grounded in self-belief.

Working in my previous company

When I worked in my previous company from 2006-2008, the people around me were of much higher consciousness than people I was previously used to. These were very talented individuals who were the cream of the crop from wherever they came from; they were very solution-driven, positive and driven. It was extremely invigorating and uplifting just to be around them; The positive energy would just build on itself infectiously.

Sleepwalkers

In my general day-to-day life, I encounter sleepwalkers who generally lack a core focus in their lives. Their lives revolve around working, eating, sleeping, partying, random entertainment and generally getting by. When I am with them, I find it very difficult to branch the discussion beyond lower level, fear/ego-based topics such as gossip, complaining, unhappiness or dissatisfaction and day-to-day weary, to more higher-level, love-based topics such purpose, self improvement, and so on.

Millionaires

About a month back, I had the opportunity to interface with a group of millionaires. It wasn’t exactly a consciousness raising experience for me as the topics were very heavily focused on money and extrinsic possessions; but it was definitely an eye-opening one. The conversation focused a lot on the high life, materialism, buying branded goods, fine wining and dining and travelling around the world.

I’m not saying that all extremely rich/successful people are this way; just that this particular group behaved in this manner.

How people around you can affect you

There are two variables that interplay in determining how much of your thoughts and actions are influenced by people around you. The first is your consciousness and resilience as an individual. The second, is the collective sum of the consciousness of the people you are with. These combine to give you a weighted impact on who you become.

You may be the most conscious and smartest individual around, but if you are constantly surrounded by negative, fear-based people in your life, it will have an impact on who you eventually become and your progression in life. If you are heavily rooted in yourself, there might be a limited downside that negative friends can bring you. However, you are also getting a limited upside because you are spending time with people who are holding you back vs people who can be elevating you.

This is what Robert Kiyosaki experienced as well, which he shared in Rich Dad, Poor Dad. He had two dads – his real dad, stuck in the middle-class with limiting viewpoints on money; his poor dad, one of the wealthiest man in Hawaii and was smart about getting money to work for him. By consciously choosing to interface with his rich dad to learn from him, he acquired many thinkings and mindsets of how to become rich, which eventually led him to become successful in life.

If you hang out with a group of successful, positive-minded individuals who believe in taking responsibility for their lives, you will move to become a proactive individual who shapes his/her future. If you hang out with a bunch of pessimists who believe the world is out to get them and there is nothing worthwhile, you will start descending into the negative whirlpool at some point, even if you are initially a positive individual.

This is especially important in goal achievement, because the consciousness you vibrate at affects the kind of thoughts and actions you undertake. If you want to lose 20lbs of weight, you need to think as your end persona; the person who is clean cut in making diet decisions. However, if you are constantly surrounding yourself with people who eat a lot, you make it harder to restrict yourself. At this point, your ability to stay on track in your goal will boil down to how grounded and resilient you are. Think of how much easier the task becomes if you were hanging out with like-minded people with similar visions, or even people who have already been there before.

Of course, this does not mean you should sever relationships or cut away people who do not contribute to your goals. It just means you should reduce the amount of contact you are having with people who do not enable you to become a better person. If you are entrenching yourself in relationships which are not elevating you or bringing yourself forward, you are not really helping yourself nor anybody else since you are not being the best you can be and subsequently, not being the best you can be to them.

Exercise to identify your core circle

Let us do an exercise now. Pick up your pen and paper, then write down the answers to the following questions:

1. What is the kind of person you want to be?

What is your ideal self that you wish to become? What are the qualities you want to possess?

2. Who are the 5 people you spend the most time with in your life currently?

How are they like? What are the top 3 qualities each of them stand for?

3. Do they match who you want to become in the future?

Do their qualities match who you want to become? Do they help enable or disable your vision for yourself? Do they elevate you or bring you down?

4. Who are the top 5 people who embody the qualities you desire?

They should be people you aspire to become and/or respect in some way or another. There are no rules here – It does not matter whether the person is a specific individual or a general person, outside of your social circle, lives in a different country or dead. It can be someone who already achieved the end state or goal that you want to achieve. It can Oprah, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, Barack Obama or whoever. Let your imagination run wild here!

If one of your career aspirations is to be a chef, you can list Iron Chef or a world-renowned, international award winning chef as one of the 5 people. If you want to lose 100lbs, list someone who has already achieved this goal or someone who has your aspired body type/weight. If you want to be a movie producer, list someone who has achieved acclaimed successful in this line of work, such as Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, Peter Jackson, etc.

5. How can you increase contact with them?

This is where the interesting bit comes in. Depending on who the people are, you can use the following methods to reach out to them:

Direct contact:
This can be via face-to-face contact, telephone or via email/internet. How can you increase the opportunities of interfacing with this person? If you know the individual, how can you communicate with him/her more often? If you don’t know the person, does this person belong to a certain community which you can be part of? Do you have any friends who might know this individual? Is there a way for you to bridge into the same social circles?

Products of their work:
If direct communication does not work out, you can always bring the person to you in the form of his/her works. Does the person have any works under his/her name, such as shows, books or podcasts? Get your hands on them and soak yourself in them. These materials were after all written/made by them and the content will convey their consciousness and knowledge. In essence, being exposed to these materials is equivalent to interacting with them in person.

Visualization:
This one sounds like the most airy fairy method out of the three, but it can actually the most powerful. Clear your mind and visualize these people in your mind. Try to project them as clearly as possible, from how they look, think, act, say. When you are done, consult them in your mind and observe their responses to whatever you ask. It can also be used in daily life, where you project their persona onto you in your situations and think/act the way you think they will.

Napoleon Hill wrote in ‘Think Rich, Grow Rich’ that every night before he slept, he would have an imaginary council meeting with his ‘invisible counselors’. The council started out with a group of 9; it eventually expanded over time to over 50. These included people such as Darwin, Einstein, Aristotle, Confucious, Socrates, and the like. Through these nightly council meetings, he received immense inspiration, knowledge and ideas which he credited for his success in life.

Transitioning to the new you

What will happen from here on as you increase your contact with these 5 people? If the disparity in consciousness levels is high, you are probably going to start off feeling terribly misfitted. They will probably talking in lingo and topics which are different from what you are used to. Even when they talk about topics you are familiar with, the perspectives they come from can be totally different and not something you looked at before. You probably feel awkward around them.

But if you are to hang out with them every single day, even if for just one hour a time, it is almost sure guarantee that no matter who you are, you are eventually going to start becoming similar to them. It does not matter if you are currently a garbage collector or an up and rising Wallstreet analyst. The only difference is the amount of time it takes for your consciousness and thinking to alter and shift to the new level. If you are a stubborn individual in a low consciousness, it will take a longer period of time; if you are a high consciousness individual who is highly adaptable, it will take a shorter.

Eventually, you will find you start resonating with these people you aspire. You will find that you start thinking in the same wavelength and start talking about the same topics as them. Those thinking will then affect your actions, which will manifest into results you see in life.

Shape your life by choosing who you are with

By simply choosing the kind of people you spend time with, you are literally shaping your own future. Start by examining the people you spend the most time around. Consider if these people are enabling you towards your envisioned self. If they are not, identify and increase contact with the people who will enable you to become the best person you can be

In advance, do forgive me for writing this utterly frivolous article. It’s the first time I’m writing at SeminarEventReview.com. I’m sure people are tired of reading the same old “economy in recession” news.

As I try my best to not pass out from the thick atmosphere of lovey-doveyness of today, I’m reminded of the ground-breaking Social Intelligence book by Daniel Goleman. The book is really quite engaging especially the chapters on what happens to the brain when people fall in love.

There are some chemicals involved like dopamine which provides the addictive quality of love – it injects intense pleasure into the brain’s circuitry. There is also oxytocin that when formed goes direct to the brain receptors which are responsible for making very rapid, intuitive judgements about someone when we are meeting for the first time.

Oh yes, apparently these chemicals when formed bypasses the usual gates of rational thought. I think the researchers call it the “Love at first sight” syndrome.

You must be thanking me right now for making science and brain chemistry making the whole life-changing event looking entirely “unromantic”.

To me, everyday should be a Valentine’s Day. Treat your loved one as the special one each and everyday- you should never need a day to remind yourself.

And for those singletons, it is time to show appreciation for yourself. Treat yourself better today. Remember it is true that we cannot give what we don’t have. But if we’re filled to overflowing with love within ourselves, then it will spill over to others without us even trying. But when we’re empty, then we’ll look to others to fill us but unfortunately we won’t be able to give.

Since our feelings radiate from inwards, to give love to others means to have love within ourselves first.

Yes I was sad during my break-up. But most important I had fun since then. I realized I had love all around me from friends and family. I know that sometimes loss is part of love. And that ultimately, love starts with me.

And finally today was special because one of my best friends in life just called me to inform she was was getting engaged. Congratulations darling, your happy news really put a big smile on my face tonight. Thank you for sharing this happy news with yours truly!

Much love and blessings to all.Similar Posts:

Since I started schooling when I was like 5 years old (that was like 20 over years), I have to follow a set of routine by the school that will help me to progress and help me in my studies (provided I study…), so that I can go to the next level of studies. I hope I am talking to you also, because this is the routine that almost all the children are going through. And I have not realized that the school system has already taught us that, we are to manage ourselves and not the time, when I was read an article by David Allen; “It’s Not About Time. Tips for Managing Yourself” last year.

In the article, it stated that everybody have 24 hours, no more no less. What you need to do bringing you to your goal is how you manage yourself, instead of time. Well, I was in sales before, so I will usually call clients after lunch (that’s where they are not that busy), telling them what seminars are coming and updating them, etc.. Then suddenly, a close client came by and wanted to have tea with me, during the tea break he introduced me to his friend interested in a particular seminar, and I have to follow up with this new lead. What did I do? I follow up with the new lead with email, and past my time slot for calling clients. What do you think is the correct thing to do?

A lot of time we are not focused in the goal we set for the day, week, month and even year, because someone asked me to help them. I mean it’s good to help, but if you are not able to get back in time to complete the goal, then you are not moving towards your goal in schedule, meaning you are not managing yourself.

I know the feeling of having a list of over 100 things to do in that day on your mind, I have been there before. In the end only at most 2 or 3 will be done by the end of the day. At the same time having sudden projects or emails that pull you away from what you are doing, aren’t that what you want to get rid of, but still keep coming back. What you need to do is to self manage yourself.

Self-management is about how we manage our commitments to achieve success at various horizons of focus in our lives. Self-management is different from time management, as you can see from the above example. The outcomes and actions approach will help us get things done that are the most meaningful to us. It is the best way to manage oneself and our valuable time.Similar Posts:
